Family apprehend suspected burglar

A brazen burglary resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old suspect who allegedly broke into a house in broad daylight while the owner was in the garden entertaining family.

The 68-year-old owner of the house realised that something was amiss and searched through the house, eventually finding the suspect in the bedroom.

The 37-year-old, permanent resident of Paphos, jumped from the first-floor window to escape but was chased by members of the family who eventually overpowered and detained him until police arrived.

The incident occurred at 4:20pm on Monday and the suspect has been arrested on charges of breaking and entering and robbery.
