UK appoints new British high commissioner

Irfan Siddiq has been appointed as the new British high commissioner to Cyprus and will assume his appointment from August 2022, replacing current commissioner Stephen Lillie.

The announcement came in a press release from the British foreign office on Wednesday, which stated that Siddiq has spent 2021 in full-time Greek language training.

The father of two has previously been posted to Cairo, Baghdad, Washington, Damascus, Baku and Khartoum.
