Vasiliko carries out emergency response exercise

The chairman of the board of directors at the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) Antonis Stylianou said last week’s security exercise at the port area of Vasilikos was a huge success for the organisation.

The CPA set up a large-scale exercise named “Triton 2022” on May 13, which was aimed at testing the safety regulations at the port, particularly to assess whether they are in line with EU directives.

The scenario was a terrorist attack, during which CPA operators needed to react quickly to various issues arising at the port, while keeping contact with the police, who were also involved in the exercise, along with the fire brigade and the Civil Defence.

“The exercise was a complete success and we want to thank everyone involved for their cooperation and their professionality,” Stylianou said in a statement released on Thursday.

“Thanks to the exercise, the CPA has proven its readiness to respond to emergencies in port areas such as the one located in Vasiliko.”
