Sakura cherry park inaugurated in Kambos (with video)

The Sakura Japanese Cherry Park in of Kambos was inaugurated on Saturday as part of celebrations to mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between Cyprus and Japan.

Japanese ambassador Izumi Seki led the inauguration having been one of the first people to plant trees there when the project was first initiated early in 2021.

The aim is to promote the cherry garden as a tourist destination, both for Japanese and other tourists during cherry blossom season. Kambos also holds an annual cherry festival.
