animation

Rites of Spring an independent animation film by Yiorgos Tsangaris is the first ever Cyprus entry in the competition section of the Annecy festival, the most important and largest festival on animation.

It will be one of the 17 films that will participate in the fesitval’s competition entitled “Perspectives”. It was selected from 3,500 submissions from around the planet.

The film critic Chris Robinson included the “Rites of Spring” in the 7 films that he recommends visitors to watch in this year’s Competition Program of the Annecy.

The film is based on a script by Kostis Kolotas, which presents the beauty of Cyprus.

It uses abstract forms, inspired by graphic arts and Folk Art, to present a beautiful world that is lost.

The film is co-produced by the Cyprus Advisory Committee of the Cultural Services of Ministry of Education.
