Avdimou police noticed a minor driving at an excessive speed on the Paphos – Limassol highway, near the village of Erimi, around noon on Friday.

The driver, later identified as a 17-year-old British minor, who was driving at 128km/hour failed to stop for a check when signalled and continued on his way in an attempt to escape.

The juvenile driver was eventually intercepted at a nearby police check point and taken to the police station for questioning.

Charges of driving without a license, insurance, or consent of the owner of the vehicle, exceeding the speed limit and failing to stop following police signal, are being brought against the 17-year-old.
