The police on Monday congratulated two teenagers for handing over a wallet full of cash that someone had earlier misplaced.

In a press release, the police said the two teens – aged 13 and 15 – had found the wallet in a park on Sunday. Later, escorted by the 13-year-old’s father, they brought the wallet to the police station in Xylofagou, Famagusta district.

The rightful owner had earlier in the day reported his wallet stolen; it contained €1,150 in cash. In the evening he was summoned to the police station and had his property returned to him.

The police said that with their actions the two teens have set an example, having “done the right thing, and with no ulterior motive.”

Police chief Stelios Papatheodorou intends to meet with the youngsters and their parents, to thank them.
