The majority of Cypriot businesses said that the biggest challenges that they are now facing include the prerequisite development of digital skills of their staff (62 per cent), and the understanding of their digital transformation strategy (54 per cent), according to a large-scale survey carried out by the research and polling organization IMR and the University of Nicosia.

During the presentation of the results of the survey on Tuesday, in the context of the CITEA Digital Cyprus Conference, Christina Kokkalou, Managing Director of IMR/University of Nicosia, stated that the vast majority of respondents focused on the importance of developing or further boosting the digital skills of their staff.

However, only 30 per cent of Cypriot businesses said they are very ready for the digital transition.

In addition, 92 per cent said that they are focused on technological development, while 89 per cent said that they are focusing on cybersecurity tactics.

As for the extent to which businesses follow such practices, 76 per cent said that they use the relevant digital tools.

They also said that they consider developing, enhancing and training their employees’ digital skills and understanding to be their biggest challenge.

Among the key conclusions of the research, highlighted by the Managing Director of Capacitor Partners, Michalis Tyrimos, is the fact that the overwhelming majority of business representatives (89 per cent) are of the opinion that the transition to the digital age will create greater opportunities for business development.
