Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar on Thursday said the north relies on the support of the Turkish army and the Turkish Intelligence Agency to continue pushing for the two-state policy in Cyprus even after the conclusion of the Turkish presidential elections.

According to reports published in the north, Tatar said he “does not believe that the Turkish authorities will allow a change in the policy concerning Cyprus.

“It would be a great loss to abandon the two-state policy and return to the situation of 50 years ago or to the time of the Annan Plan,” he said.

“The national policy on the Cyprus problem has now been settled.”

Tatar also added that Turkey can count on its armed forces and its intelligence to keep pressing on the two-state policy.

“These institutions will certainly evaluate the situation regarding Cyprus at the highest level. From my perspective, I don’t think the national policy will change,” he said.

Finally, Tatar also praised the contribution of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in shaping the two-state policy.
