Police busted a 16-year-old driving illegally and with a fake licence in Nicosia on Friday, authorities said.

According to police, the teen was spotted by traffic patrollers around 8:15am on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near the Kotsiatis exit.

After the officers stopped him, police found that the 16-year-old was driving without a licence in his father’s car.

The teen was taken to the station and police called his father to come in.

Police said that the father did not take the appropriate safety measures to ensure his son would be unable to take the car.

Both were charged in writing and released.
