Napa primary school to be named after late mayor

Ayia Napa municipal council has decided to rename the town’s primary school after the popular late mayor Antonis Tsokkos who died a year ago on Tuesday aged 60.

Tsokkos died while in office during his second term. He had received 77.7 per cent of the vote during his re-election in 2011 –  the highest number for any mayorial candidate ever in Cyprus.

On the morning of January 21 last year Tsokkos complained to his wife that he felt ill. He died shortly afterwards.
