EAC pole falls on car in Paphos

An electricity pole fell on Sunday evening, crashing onto the car of a local official in Paphos, police said.

No one was injured in the 11.30pm incident at the village of Arodes.

Police said the pole collapsed onto a car that belongs to the head of the community Matheos Stephanou.

It was parked outside his home.

Stephanou was inside at the time when he heard a loud crashing noise.

He sealed off the area and notified the electricity authority whose crews removed the wires from the street.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the collapse though Stephanou suggested other utility poles in his community probably needed replacement.
