All that shines on the big screen

By Maria Gregoriou

A GOOD movie on the big screen is always a good bet for a winter’s night so tomorrow you could watch the Polish drama comedy Moj Rower (My Father’s Bike) at Cine Studio at the University of Nicosia.

The story is one of relatives coming together after 70-year-old Vladek finds a letter from his wife that she is leaving him and, as a result, faints and ends up in hospital. The next day Vladek is visited by his son, who is a world famous celebrity pianist from Berlin, and his teenage grandson who is living in London with his mother.

Father and son meet each other after years apart only to find out that the pianist’s mother and teenager’s grandmother is leaving her husband for another man. Now faced with the truth, the three men set off on a trip together. Let’s see if they can be reunited, overcome any differences they have and close some of the generation gap.

The cast of the 2012 film are Artur Zmijewski, Michal Urbaniak, Krzysztof Chodorowski, and Witold Debicki.
