Poaching suspect charged and released

A 21-year-old man from Dherynia was arrested Tuesday afternoon, after bird traps and a hunting shotgun for which he did not have licence, were located in his house and car during a search.

According to police reports, officers from the local police station and from the game and fauna service, who had secured a search warrant, found 27 lime sticks and 17 bird traps in the suspect’s home.

In his car, officers said they located a dismantled hunting shotgun, which reportedly belongs to his father, and for which the 21-year-old did not have a licence.

The 21-year-old was charged in writing and was released.
