The two leaders will meet six more times till July 29th

The leaders of the two communities in Cyprus, President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, will hold one more meeting today in the framework of an intensified round of meetings with an aim to reach a solution of the Cyprus issue.

In statements after their previous meeting on the 23rd of June, President Anastasiades said that there was encouraging progress on the chapters that have been discussed so far in the settlement talks, pointing out however that significant issues remain.

He noted that six more meetings have been scheduled, until July 29.

The President said that significant progress has been made on the internal cooperation between the federal government and the constituent states, while discussion was ongoing on international treaties.

He clarified that there was a separate discussion on federal competencies between the two negotiators and their teams, upon instructions by the leaders.
