Increase in civil marriages conducted by Paphos municipality

Paphos municipality said it has conducted 1,401 civil marriages in 2018, up from the previous year by 131.

Municipality official Lia Kosti said 75 per cent of the couples were from the UK, 25 per cent from Israel and the rest from various other countries.

The couples usually prefer beach hotels for the ceremony, but also the area of Lemba Vrysi, or Lemba bridge, a secluded area with rich foliage and uninterrupted view of the sea.

Some ceremonies are held at the town hall, the beach, or the Kato Paphos harbour.
