Button talk: how one dog has learnt to speak to her human

Every pet deserves a loving and respectful home: please only consider acquiring a pet if you will be able to take care of its long-term needs. Also, consider choosing your animal companion from a shelter, where there are so many wonderful furry friends who need a forever home.

In this unusual video, we meet Seattle native Alexis Devine, who is teaching her sheepadoodle dog Bunny to communicate with her by pressing buttons that bear different messages on them.

“Anytime I think about what she [Bunny] would want to express, I try to add a button,” says Devine. “My sense is that it’s enriching for her. Just another way to communicate, strengthen and deepen our bond.”

The sheepadoodle is a breed that’s a cross between the old English sheepdog and poodle, also known as a sheeppoo or sheepdog poodle mix.
