How rail bike tourism is preserving a historic train line

In this video, we head off to Australia to look at how tourism – in this case, ‘rail bike tourism’ – can play an active role in preserving culture and history.

Across Oz, debates are raging over what to do with the country’s disused rail tracks, with some councils having ripped up the old lines and put in cycle paths.

But members of the ‘Goulburn Crookwell Heritage Railway’ are taking a different route.

The heritage train enthusiasts love to ride antique railway carts along the disused lines of the Upper Lachlan Shire, and, as we discover in this video, recently came across a new contraption that they believe could become a tourist attraction for the town, giving their beloved train line a second lease on life.
