Man arrested for arson

A 39-year-old man was arrested for car arson, Paphos police said on Friday.

The man is suspected to have set the car of a 32-year-old woman on fire around 3.45am on Thursday. The car was parked outside the woman’s house in a village in Paphos district.

The fire was put out by nearby residents, while investigations at the scene by police and the fire service concluded the fire had been put maliciously.

Following further investigations, evidence led police to the arrest of the 39-year-old man around 5.30pm on Thursday.

The suspect is being detained while Panayia police station continues the investigation.
