Coronavirus: 70% of adult population fully vaccinated

A total of 76.3 per cent of the adult population had received the first jab against the coronavirus and 69.9 per cent were fully vaccinated by August 12, the health ministry said on Friday as it announced the latest vaccination figures.

It said that the 70 per cent full vaccination meets “a significant target”.

In terms of vaccination by age group, the ministry said 31.8 per cent of the 16-to-17-year-old age group had at least received the first jab. For younger ages (12-15), the first dose has been administered to 8.3 per cent of the age group in the 10 days since vaccinations opened for them (August 2-12).

As regards districts, Paphos remains the leader with 86.9 per cent of the population having received at least one jab, followed by Famagusta district (84 per cent), Nicosia (76.2 per cent) and Limassol (74.4 per cent). Larnaca still lags with 70.4 per cent.

The walk-in centres had by Thursday administered a total of 22,701 since they opened on July 15.
