Coronavirus: Paphos hotel fined €4,000

Police Checks

A Paphos hotel has been fined €4,000 for failing to check guests’ SafePasses and carry the relevant coronavirus signage.

The hotel was among the four businesses fined €5,750 in total for violating coronavirus protocols, while 35 people were also booked after almost 5,000 police checks in the 24 hours until Thursday morning.

A staff member of the Paphos hotel was also found working without a SafePass, police said.

Another two businesses were fined in the district, including one that failed to carry the necessary coronavirus signs and received a €500 fine. For the same reason, a third establishment was booked €750, as well as for not checking its customers for a SafePass and because three employees were not wearing a face mask.

The fourth business was in Limassol, which was fined €500 because the manager was not wearing a face mask.

Meanwhile, the majority of checks, 2,008 out of 4,999, were carried out in Nicosia where officers booked six people.

Another 14 people were fined in the Limassol after 463 checks, and four in Paphos after 398 checks.

Famagusta officers conducted 757 checks and booked 10 individuals, while in Larnaca only one person was fined after 613 checks.

No violations were reported in Morphou after 350 checks.

Traffic and marine police conducted 337 and 73 checks respectively, also without any bookings.
