The festive season is officially upon us. If you walk around any central street you will be welcomed by Christmas lights, decorated shop windows and festive music. With Eleftheria Square finally inaugurated and Makarios Avenue now open and dressed in the holiday spirit, Nicosia is definitely in a Christmas mood. But it is not just the centre of the city that is bursting with the season’s joy, Aglantzia too is preparing festive happenings and free entertainment in its streets!

The Magical Park Altius opens in Aglantzia on Wednesday and will remain open until January 6. A series of musical, theatre and children’s events will take place with a vibrant opening ceremony on Wednesday evening. A live link with MIX FM will kickstart the festivities at 5.30pm before a buzzing musical parade begins at 6.30pm with local Afro-Brazilian percussion band Batukinio marching down Kerynias Avenue to Spyros Kyprianou park. Part of the parade will also be cheerleaders and Santa, all ending at the Magical Park Altius to light up the Christmas tree.

A fire show will continue at 7.30pm before a MIX FM DJ set takes over again. Over the next three weeks, a variety of events will take place in Aglantzia including storytelling for children, shadow theatre, a discotheque party, choir performances and a Christmas concert with Louis Patsalides and the band from Louis Night Show.

The full programme is available on the Aglantzia Municipality website and the fun park will be open daily from 4pm to 9pm and from 2pm to 10pm on the weekends, except on holidays. Three weeks full of colour, music and holiday spirit lay ahead as the Municipality and Altius Insurance paint the town red!
