With January just around the corner, Pattihio Theatre has selected performances to open the New Year, with a musical performance and book presentation lifting the curtain next week.

The Panikos Hadjihambis Foundation will present Kostas Charalambides’ book dedicated to the life and work of Panikos Hadjihambis on January 4. Titled Gi mou esi, Anasa mou ki aera, a concert will follow the book event with Michalis Violaris.

A few days later and the theatre production of Savel’s Red Dress will take the Pattihio stage presenting four performances by AntiLogos Theatre. Two afternoon shows will be held on January 8 and two morning shows on January 9. The play is supported by Limassol Municipality, and for free, as it is part of a European initiative the Municipality is participating in.

On January 19, it is time for dance to fill the theatre as the Myra Nicolaou Private School of Ballet presents the show La Boutique Fantasque, while a children’s show is on next. The beloved Smurfs will appear in a children’s play on January 22. Well-known around the world, three performances featuring the smurf community will be on, one at 11am, 3pm and 5.30pm.

The final week of the month has three more shows in store for audiences. A sparkling comedy in Russian titled Last Chance will take place on January 23 before a Greek music performance follows. Vocalist Giota Negka will share legendary songs on January 25 that lyricist Eftihia Papagiannopoulou wrote before the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra wraps up the month.

In a show titled Starlight 3, three special French artists join the Orchestra to perform pieces by Mozart, Debussy and Kurt Weill. Weill’s Symphony 2 composition will be performed for the first time on the island, making it a Cyprus premiere performed by some of the most respected classical music artists of the island and Europe.
