We drove just 15 seconds before seeing graffiti

letters 1 grammata

Driving around Cyprus I see more and more graffiti randomly daubed on road signs, walls and bridges etc.
My wife and I did a little experiment, driving from Episkopi to Limassol and the longest period we had a gap of no graffiti was 15 seconds!

Graffiti is an eyesore and has no purpose in 99 per cent of cases and is pure vandalism.

Unfortunately, no one seems to want to remove it, discourage it or educate the perpetrators on the damage it could do to the economy. Who wants to come to an island that looks like an outtake from a 70s Bronx movie?

Some friends of mine recently decided not to buy a house in my local area due to the way the local area had been ‘defaced’ and instead opted to buy more remotely because they want their friends and family who visit to see a more traditional and pretty side to Cyprus.

Another couple who have visited the island on holiday for over 15 years stated that it has ruined Cyprus and they struggle to take pictures anymore as you ‘can’t move for it’. They are looking at holidays elsewhere.
