Eight arrested for gambling, breaking curfew

Paphos police arrested eight people late on Wednesday on suspicion of illegal gambling and for violating the curfew in place as part of the measures against the coronavirus.

Traffic police officers searched a property in Paphos where they found eight people gathered to play poker.

The suspects were arrested, charged in writing and released pending their court appearance.

Officers seized as evidence 52 playing cards and 53 coloured poker chips.

Police say their coordinated anti-gambling campaign is continuing islandwide.
