Adults aged 18 and older will be able to receive a coronavirus booster jab as of Wednesday at walk-in centres or after booking an appointment through the vaccination portal, the health ministry announced on Tuesday.

Eligible for the booster dose are people who have completed their vaccination course at least six months prior.

Those who received an mRNA vaccine will be administered the same booster shot, while those who received AstraZeneca will receive a third dose of either Pfizer or Moderna.

People who received the Janssen vaccine will have a choice between an mRNA technology jab or Janssen and can only get their booster shot at the walk-ins, the health ministry had said.

Walk-in centres operate in all districts between 8am to 3 or 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. They also administer first and second doses to interested individuals.

Non-Gesy beneficiaries can also visit the walk-ins every Friday.

Six walk-in centres operate from 8am to 6pm including Saturdays (8am to 1pm) at Nicosia State Fair, Limassol Spyros Kyprianou sports centre, Larnaca Port, Famagusta general hospital and Paphos general hospital.

Walk-ins that only operate until 3pm can be found at Latsia health centre, Troodos hospital in Kyperounta and Linopetra health centre.

The health ministry reminded the public they need to have proof of identification as well as their vaccination certificate if they wish to receive the second or third dose.
