Shipping Deputy Minister Vassilios Demetriades tested positive to coronavirus on the day he received the booster anti-coronavirus jab, he announced on Saturday.

In a tweet, the deputy minister said he was diagnosed positive the day he received the third jab and that he is experiencing mild symptoms.

He apologised to all his close contacts, who are mainly abroad since Demetriades recently travelled to three different countries and urged them to get tested.

“Get vaccinated to overcome this trial as painlessly as possible,” he added.

On December 2, the deputy ministry went to Athens to present the tender document for the Cyprus-Greece ferry connection.

He then travelled to London to attend the 32nd General Assembly of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

On December 8, he travelled to Brussels to take part in the work of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council, representing Cyprus on maritime transport issues.
