Coronavirus: Five people booked in Larnaca and Famagusta

Police on Friday said they fined five people for failing to abide by coronavirus measures in Larnaca and Famagusta following 2,307 checks across the island in the last 24 hours.

About half of the checks, 1,174, were carried out in Nicosia where no fines were issued.

No violations were reported in Limassol, Paphos, nor in Morphou after 121, 40 and 293 checks respectively, police said.

Officers in Larnaca booked three people after 316 checks while another two were booked in Famagusta following 293 inspections there.

Meanwhile, traffic, marine and port police also conducted 257 and two checks each, without any bookings.

Police said the checks were carried out between 6am on Thursday and 6am on Friday.
