Diving from the Cape Greco sea caves is strictly prohibited and dangerous, the Larnaca joint rescue and coordination centre reiterated on Monday, after rescuing a woman who was injured due to a fall in the area.

The centre received information about an injured person near the sea caves in the Famagusta district, a few minutes before 2pm.

It immediately mobilised the fire and ambulance service who provided first aid to the Belgian woman who had fallen while visiting the rocky coastline. She was then transferred to the Famagusta general hospital.

In its announcement, the JRCC reminded the public that approaching and diving at the site of the sea caves in Cape Greco is “strictly prohibited”.

“The ground has been deemed dangerous due to increased erosion according to an inspection by the geological survey department,” the statement added.
