Argonaftis 2015 wraps up

The multinational civil-military co-operation exercise ‘Argonaftis 2015’, wrapped up on Friday.

The final stage of the exercise initiated a series of scenarios, including tackling a terrorism attack on an offshore oil rig, evacuation of wounded personnel, limiting maritime pollution and radiobiological and chemical waste pollution, intercepting a vessel carrying undocumented immigrants, rescuing survivors from a collapsed building and others.

The exercise got underway on Monday and was the largest on Cyprus has participated in to date. The US, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Itlay, Great Britain and Germany were amongst the 18 countries taking part.
