Explosion badly damages Nicosia building

An explosive device detonated in the early hours of Monday in Nicosia, causing extensive damage to a building.

The device, which exploded at 1.30am, caused a fire.

According to first reports, the offices of a diagnostic medical centre on Strovolos Avenue belonging to a 47-year-old man were the target.

The fire was put out by the fire service, which said the cause was a high-explosive device.
