National Guardsmen posted at a Ledra Street outpost were harassed by two drunk men in the early hours of Wednesday, with the police later arresting the young men.

Local media reported that the two Greek Cypriots, aged 29 and 31, were harassing those on duty and did not respond to calls to disperse.

The guardsmen soon called the police who intervened in the incident and arrested the two men, who had been causing a scene.
