Woman arrested for attempted murder of fellow national

Police released a statement saying that in the early hours of Saturday, a 32-year-old woman residing in Nicosia was arrested and placed under custody based on a judicial warrant, to facilitate investigations into a suspected case of attempted murder.

Specifically, yesterday evening at approximately 8pm, a 36-year-old woman reported to the police that she had been attacked by the 32-year-old while being at a central location in Nicosia at around 7pm.

The suspect had allegedly wounded her with a knife in the neck and hand.

The 36-year-old victim visited Nicosia General Hospital where she received medical assistance and was subsequently discharged.

The 32-year-old is being investigated for offences including conspiracy to commit a crime, attempted murder, acts intending to cause grievous bodily harm, assault, and carrying knives.

Nicosia police are continuing their investigation.
