Athena Shipilli Tsingi is Eurolife’s new General Manager

Athena Shipilli Tsingi has taken over as the new General Manager of Eurolife, as of November 1, 2023

Athena Shipilli Tsingi has been appointed Eurolife’s new General Manager, taking up the role as of November 1, 2023. Having joined the Bank of Cyprus (BoC) in September 2021, until June 2022 she worked in the Compliance Division, subsequently serving as Director of Asset Management until October 2023.

Shipilli Tsingi reports to Executive Chairman of Insurance Companies at Bank of Cyprus and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurolife, Loui Pohani.

“It is with great pleasure that I have taken over as General Manager of Eurolife,” stated Shipillis Tsingi on assuming the post. “It is a great honour for me to be chosen to join the Eurolife management team.”

“I have taken up my duties with a sense of responsibility for the history and development of the organisation, which has been a leader in the country’s insurance industry since 1989,” she continued. “Sensitive to the insurance needs in the modern world, and with respect to our customers, we will continue with the same responsibility to stand by the Cypriot society and create value with a commitment to people.”

Prior to joining the Bank of Cyprus, Eurolife’s new General Manager held the position of Senior Risk Manager of CNP Cyprus Insurance Holdings Ltd, where she was also a member of the Executive Committee, and from July 2009 to June 2014, she was Internal Audit Manager and Compliance Manager of the same Group.

Earlier, from February 2007 to July 2009, Shipilli Tsingi worked at KPMG Cyprus providing advisory services as Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance Manager. She began her career in September 2000 with Moore Stephens Chartered Accountants in London, where she worked as an external auditor until March 2003. In April 2004 she returned to Cyprus and joined Mega TV’s Financial Management Department.

Shipilli Tsingi holds a BSc joint honours in Economics and Accountancy from the City University of London; she is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a Certified Internal Auditor of the Institute of Internal Auditors, US, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor of ISACA.
