Coronavirus: Hotel fined €3000 after employee found without SafePass, mask

Α hotel in Paphos was fined €3000 after an employee was found to be working without wearing a mask and was not in possession of a SafePass, police said on Wednesday. Moreover, various signs required by the decree to contain the coronavirus outbreak were not displayed in the hotel’s facilities.

The hotel was one of six business premises and 23 individuals booked in the last 24 hours following 3,949 checks for violations of measures against the spread of Covid-19.

In Nicosia, a total of 1,461 checks were carried out and one shop owner was fined.

In Limassol 270 checks were conducted with 14 individuals booked. In Larnaca after 557 checks three persons were reported, in Paphos after 372 checks, one person, four shop owners and a hotel owner were booked. In Famagusta police conducted 721 checks and reported five citizens while in Morphou after 228 checks there was no fines.

The Traffic Department carried out 302 checks while the Marine Police 38 and no violation of measures were reported.

A SafePass is mandatory in almost all hospitality venues and other event premises following a government decree aiming to curb the spread of coronavirus in Cyprus.
