Paphos police on Tuesday were investigating a burglary after a tourist reported that about €6,000 in cash and other items were stolen from his holiday home.

The man reported the theft late on Monday, saying that unknown culprits broke into the house in Chloraka where he was staying with his wife and other relatives.

The thieves stole almost €5,000 and 250 pounds (€293) in cash, as well as jewellery worth about €500, for which there is insurance coverage, the tourist told police.

Officers who arrived at the scene for examinations said the perpetrators appeared to have entered the house through a specific window.

Investigations continue by Paphos CID.
