A car accident occurred on Thursday, at around four in the morning in Ayia Napa when a saloon car crashed into a restaurant’s outdoor patio, police said.

The driver, a 22-year-old from Paralimni, lost control of his vehicle while on a curve, crashed onto the pavement, drifted sideways and then crashed into the restaurant, Famagusta district police spokesman Steve Theodoulou.

At the time of the accident, the restaurant was closed, and nobody was hurt aside from the driver who sustained minor injuries, he added.

The driver was rushed to the hospital and also underwent alcotests that showed 57mg initially and 55mg the second time, instead of 22mg which is the limit.
