Campaign to remove illegal advertising boards in Larnaca

larnaca

A campaign to combat visual pollution will be held in the tourist areas of Larnaca to remove all illegal signage

The campaign Broom will be held on July 4 and 5, by the municipalities of Larnaca, Livadia and the Community Councils of Voroklini and Pyla, with the support of the Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Company and the ministry of tourism.

The campaign will see the removal of all illegal signs and other structures on roads, pavements and other public areas.

“The phenomenon of uncontrolled and abusive placement of advertising structures creates an aesthetically inelegant spectacle, causing safety problems for drivers and pedestrians and a serious degradation of the urban environment,” a joint statement from the municipalities said.

“The incessant bombardment of various advertising messages is a negative phenomenon that affects the image of our country as a tourist destination and must be combated immediately,” they said.

The local authorities and bodies of Larnaca appealed to individuals to comply with the law. “The image that the region and our country project, concerns everyone”.
