A 32-year-old Paphos resident is in police custody after he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and without a licence and insurance, on Wednesday.

Officers had at 1.25 pm on Wednesday signalled to the man stop during traffic checks on Chlorakas Avenue, but he drove off.

Later at 2.45 pm members of the Paphos Traffic Police located the vehicle on Deykalionos Street and stopped it.

Police said he was found to have an alcohol level of 43mg instead of the legal limit of 22 mg for experienced drivers. He also tested positive for drug use in a narcotest.

He did not have a valid driving licence or insurance, police said.
