Hawker caught selling stolen goods in Timi

Paphos police on are looking for a second person following the arrest of a 61-year-old man in a case of burglary, theft and resale of stolen goods.

According to police spokesperson, Michalis Nikolaou, last Thursday a 48-year-old man reported the break-in and theft from his residence of silverware, collections of old banknotes and coins, with a total value of €23,200. The residence was entered after breaking the aluminum window.

Subsequently, on Sunday morning, police located a hawker at a market in Timi, selling antique items. Police identified several items as part of the property stolen from the 48-year-old’s residence.

The 61-year-old hawker was arrested for illegal possession of property and taken into custody. When questioned, he named a 40-year-old resident of Cyprus as the person who supplied them.

An arrest warrant was issued against the 40-year-old and he is wanted for the crime of burglary. The case is under ongoing investigation.
