Wish upon a star

dsc00893

With strict measures for the pandemic and rainy weather postponing some of the events that do manage to be organised, it can be hard to get into the holiday spirit. Sometimes a little bit of magic is needed. A family show coming late December and early January will spread the joy with live performances from favourite Disney films, musicals and other children’s films.

Titled Wish Upon a Star, the performance will be filled with songs from Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, Wicked and more on five separate evenings. Pattihio Municipal Theatre will first host the concert on December 29 and 30 at 8pm and December 31 at 4pm. In January, the Nicosia Municipal Theatre will fill with cheery musicals on Sunday 2, at 4pm and Monday 3, at 8pm.

Acclaimed Greek singers Mariza Rizou and Giorgos Perris will meet on stage for the first time to bring the pieces to life. Also performing are Cypriot soloists Alice Chrysochou, Riana Athanasiou, Andreas Arodites, the children’s choir and vocal ensemble Diastasi along with the Limassol Contemporary Music Orchestra TrakArt, under the direction of Aris Antoniades.

The Wish Upon a Star concert is to be a dreamy, enchanting evening, full of hope that kids and adults alike so dearly need. Besides beloved songs, Kostas Petrides has written texts that will be included in the performance merging the songs with images.
