Paphos General Hospital

A French tourist is hospitalised in serious condition at the Paphos general hospital after he was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing, police said Thursday.

The 46-year-old man was walking at a pedestrian crossing on Ayion Anargyron avenue around 3.40pm on Wednesday, when, under conditions that are being investigated, he was hit by a car driven by a 61-year-old man.

The victim was then transferred to the accidents and emergency department of the Paphos general hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured shinbone and skull fractures, police said.

He underwent surgery with his condition described as serious but stable.

Police said an alcohol test was carried out on the driver of the car which showed no alcohol in his system.
