Success Story coming to Pallas theatre

970x332 px

An evening of history, music and storytelling is coming up at Pallas Theatre as the performance Success Story returns for a single performance. Through music compositions and visual material, Success Story presents a series of events that have torn Cypriot society apart during the past 100 years. In it piano, violin and percussions co-exist, while combining contemporary improvisation techniques. Focusing on the interaction between acoustic and electronic instruments, Trio Ostinato draws on broader social issues.

Following performances in Nicosia and Limassol in 2022, Success Story returns in the New Year for a performance at Pallas Theatre on January 21. This commissioned work by Arts Embrace has enabled composer Haris Sophocleous to especially create this piece for the combination of instruments of the chamber music ensemble Trio Ostinato to highlight music as a tool for social reflection and collective awakening.

The Trio consists of Andri Hatziandreou on piano, Vicki Hatziandreou on violin and Natasa Hatziandreou on percussion. It highlights an amalgam of techniques and styles such as jazz, electric, classical, and multimedia among others, with the result that the originality of this particular combination of instruments is not only relevant to the local Cypriot creation, but also to the modern international scene.

Through this innovative approach to composition and interpretation and with the use of multimedia, a sensational mix between classical, contemporary and jazz style is created that includes musical-political satire and journalistic research, elements which further strengthen the aesthetic philosophy of the work, as it attempts to go through 100 years of Cypriot history until present day.
