Man wanted for attempted murder

A 38-year-old man is wanted by the police for attempted murder in Limassol.

Testimony revealed details of the alleged perpetrator which have been secured, police spokesman Lefteris Kyriakou said on Tuesday, while the motives are attributed to personal differences.

According to police, the incident involved a confrontation around 9pm on Monday between the attacker and two other men, in an open space near Ypsonas.

The two men, third country nationals, aged 19 and 30, were assaulted by a compatriot, who allegedly injured them with a knife.

The injured men were taken to Limassol general hospital with lacerations to various parts of their bodies.

The 19-year-old underwent surgery for a serious wound in the abdomen and his right arm. Following surgery the victim was intubated and is being kept in the ICU for further treatment. His health condition is judged as critical.

The 30-year-old, who also had a serious stab wound, also received care and his condition is considered out of danger.

Police have collected evidence from the scene of the crime and eyewitnesses were called to testify, as the investigation continues.
