A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both Limassol residents, were remanded in police custody on Friday for six days on suspicion of stealing a car.

The two suspects were arrested on Thursday evening after failing to stop for a check when signalled by a patrol car in Limassol. Instead, they sped off and managed to escape.

Soon after the officers found the car they were in, parked and locked in an area and were told a man and woman were seen parking it there. In the meantime, it emerged the car had been reported stolen sometime between September 25 and 27.

Just before midnight, the two suspects were located in an area near they had parked the car and were arrested.
