Remembering the legacy of Cyprus Airways, an exhibition will open in Nicosia this month. It opens on January 9, the same date the company shut down back in 2015, and until January 13 it will welcome visitors to the old Market of Pallouriotissa for a walk down memory lane.

The 68 years of the airline will be presented and highlighted through photographic material and items that include the Cyprus Airways logo. Some of them are rare pieces which will be presented for the first time. For just five days, visitors will be able to relive the airline’s iconic moments.

On the opening night, a 55-minute film will be screened which highlights the airline’s contributions and interviews with employees as well as unforgettable incidents. Some of them cover events such as the 1967 aeroplane explosion, the 1961 Ankara accident, the last landing of July 20, 1974, and the hijacking in Beirut in 1985.

The showcase, research and film are creations of producer Alexis Sophocleous who was a flight attendant at Cyprus Airways for 25 years.
