Ookla recognises Epic as Cyprus’ fastest fixed internet network

Epic is recognized as the Fastest Fixed Internet Network in Cyprus with an award by Ookla at the Mobile World Congress 2024

Epic is the Fastest Fixed Internet Network in Cyprus, according to Speedtest® Results by Ookla, the internationally-renowned organisation for internet performance testing and analysis.

At a ceremony held on February 28, 2024 at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Epic received the “Speedtest Award” by Ookla, an honour offered to the top-performing companies in each country.

This award reflects the superiority and reliability of Epic’s Fixed Internet Network, and attests to Epic’s commitment to offer its subscribers, both for home and business, an outstanding fixed internet experience with incredibly fast speeds.

The Ookla Speedtest Awards™ are presented to the top providers in speed, which are determined using a Speed Score that incorporates a measure of each provider’s download and upload speed to rank network speed performance. Hundreds of thousands of user-initiated tests across Cyprus for the Q3-Q4 2023 period were performed, testing all fixed providers in Cyprus with Epic achieving the highest speed score.

“We are particularly delighted to receive this award from Ookla and the recognition of Epic as the Fastest Fixed Internet Network in Cyprus,” commented Epic CEO Thanos Chronopoulos.

“This distinction underscores the technological excellence and quality of our network,” he went on. “Throughout the years, we have consistently invested in upgrading and expanding our network, aligning with our commitment to offer our subscribers both an epic communication experience through our state-of-the-art fiber-optic network and great value across our fixed and mobile services. We thank our customers for their enduring trust. A warm congratulations to our team members, whose dedication and hard work have once again elevated Epic to the top.”

For his part, Epic CTIO Giannis Michaelides noted that: “what we started building about three years ago is a genuine Fiber to the Home network, with a 100-per cent optical fiber that comes straight to the end user’s premise”. Continuing, he added: “we take great pride in our continuously increasing ratings on Ookla’s indicators, which prove that real FTTH networks excel in performance and the overall experience they provide to end users. I am very grateful to our teams who worked diligently for this success, complementing the numerous umlaut Best-in-Test awards we have received for our mobile network. When the right people work hard together with the right strategy, they can only create Great Networks, and that is what we do every day at Epic.”

Meanwhile, Stephen Bye, President and CEO of Ookla, a division of Ziff Davis, noted that “it was a pleasure to meet with Epic Cyprus’ team at Mobile World Congress to acknowledge their remarkable achievement of winning the Speedtest Award for Fastest Fixed Network during Q3-Q4 2023.”

Furthermore, he added, “as a former CTO, I know personally how challenging it is to achieve this award; I am excited to see what they have in store for the future”.

In an era where the telecommunications industry is excelling at unprecedented rates, Epic continues to be at the pinnacle of quality and service. Its goal remains clear: to support consumers and fully meet their growing needs with the best solutions and innovations.
